This painting was inspired by a scene driving on route 100 on a gorgeous Vermont morning, when the cornfields were lit up gold, contrasting the deep blue, moody mountains in the distance. I was inspired by the contrast between the silo's top and the darkness of the mountains, and inspired by the way the silo stood strong and alone in the field, wrapped up in rows upon rows of corn ready for harvest.
